Filmshake Bonus Episode – The Dead Don’t Die (2019)

Nic and Jordan go to the theatre! We went and saw Jim Jarmusch’s latest flick, the zombie apocalypse comedy The Dead Don’t Die, starring Adam Driver and Bill Murray. Jordan and Nic continue their series on the Japanese masters of cinema, with another round talking about director Akira Kurosawa. This episode features a spoiler-free discussion on the director’s beloved masterpiece Ikiru (To Live) as the hosts relate their very different experiences of the film (comedy or tragedy?). Having lost the previous trivia battle, Jordan reports back on a terrible film he was made to watch from a great director, John Boorman’s Where the Heart Is. Filmshake Episode 3.5 – Dreams Spoilers

Nic and Jordan conduct their Eye of the Duck segment, getting into what they believe are the key scenes for Akira Kurosawa’s Dreams. The film’s “spoilers” are also discussed, highlighting the last three vignettes. The hosts rag on unobservant film critics (besides themselves) and Nic uses a strange guttural voice to say “Walt Disney”.
